IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants were dealt with a big blow after Mark Wood was ruled out of the IPL. The right-arm fast bowler was ruled out of the entire tournament due to an elbow injury.
He sustained the injury during England’s first Test against West Indies earlier this month. Earlier, the newly-inducted franchise signed the England fast bowler for Rs 7.5 crore at the auction.
With IPL 2022 a couple of days away from getting started, Lucknow Super Giants have signed Andrew Tye as a replacement for injured England’s fast bowler Mark Wood for the next season.
Meanwhile, Tye can be an excellent addition to LSG’s fast bowling unit. Tye has represented the Australian cricket team in 32 T20Is where he has accounted for 47 dismissals.
Notably, the right-arm fast bowler has played 27 games in the Indian Premier League. He has taken 40 wickets to his name and has joined the Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 1 crore.
Andrew Tye went on to win the Purple Cap in the IPL 2018 season while playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings).
The fast bowler has taken 24 wickets in 14 games for the Punjab-based franchise. There are quite a lot of expectations from the experienced bowler and he will be looking forward to delivering the goods.
Tye has been statistically very good in numbers as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned. He has played 182 T20s in his career wherein he has taken 251 wickets to his name. Notably, he has also taken a hat trick in the cash-rich IPL.
