Opinion: It has been a heavy day for the MS Dhoni fans since the news broke out regarding their idol. Another surprise googly has been thrown by MS Dhoni to the cricketing world.
The former Indian international stepped down from the CSK captaincy post. The formal announcement was made by the CSK management through a letter addressed to the press and fans.
MS Dhoni himself decided to hand over the baton to the new face for a new future. Ravindra Jadeja will be leading CSK from now on.
Though the reports suggested that MSD will be handing over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja. But it would rather be at the end of the season or in the middle of the fifteenth edition.
However, things have taken a different turn as MS Dhoni decided that the time is right at the beginning and not at the end to step down. One can have various Opinion on MS Dhoni and his CSK captaincy style.
The 40-year-old cricketer has been by far the most successful captain in the history of IPL so far. Though Rohit Sharma holds five titles and MS Dhoni holds four titles so far.
But under MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings have been to multiple IPL finals. CSK has the highest appearances in the IPL finals. Though CSK has lost plenty of IPL finals but to reach the final in itself is such an achievement.
An achievement that franchises like Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals can only dream of. However, I as a CSK fan will never be pleased by MSD’s surprise bouncers.
MS Dhoni did the same thing by suddenly announcing retirement from international cricket on August 15. Perhaps one can only hope he will not do the same when he retires from all the formats.
